Microneedling

Microneedling in Lorton VA, is used to improve skin conditions by reducing inflammatory responses, reducing pigmentation, promoting healing, and improving elasticity. But, although the technique has been around for years, a new study indicates that a previously neglected but potent form of the treatment can also treat scarring. In the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology, researchers used microneedling to successfully repair hemorrhaging in patients with a deep-vein thrombosis (DVT) and venous stasis.

Patients who have suffered from DVT have thin, scarred veins that are often susceptible to the effects of aging and hormonal changes. In the meantime, their blood circulation can become impaired, making it more difficult for the veins to remove old or damaged blood. The DVT procedure to treat the abnormality involves placing a couple of tiny punctures on the foot or the leg and filling the cannulae with fluid. The process stimulates the vascular network with hormones and induces the formation of collagen.

After a week, scar tissue is reduced to nearly normal levels, which helps with the maintenance of normal blood flow. According to the authors, microneedling for venous stasis is an excellent alternative to sclerotherapy. Although the study is not yet finished, the researchers are eager to conduct more studies. They have previously used microneedling on pig skin as a therapy to reduce scarring. In the meantime, you can talk with your doctor about scarring, and you may not have to wait long until your treatment is complete. For more information on other types of microneedling,
